Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis End Relationship

Shivon Zilis, a director at Elon Musk's brain-technology company Neuralink, confirmed on October 2 that her relationship with Musk has abruptly ended. Zilis shared on the social media platform X that the breakup occurred suddenly, just days after they had exchanged affectionate messages. She described the transition from being "in love" to "let go" within a week as occurring "with no warning." Zilis, aged 40, provided a screenshot of text messages from September 24, which appeared to illustrate the rapid shift in their relationship. In these messages, Zilis expressed enjoyment from a recent breakfast with Musk and conveyed her love for him. Musk reciprocated these sentiments and mentioned an invitation to a dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping, contingent on the attendance of significant others.

Less than a week after these exchanges, Zilis publicly announced the conclusion of their romantic involvement. Despite her emotional distress, Zilis stated that she continues to care deeply for Musk and expressed a desire for an amicable co-parenting relationship. She wrote, "I'm hurting, but care deeply about E and will always be cheering for his happiness," and later added her hope that they can remain "great friends and coparents." The couple shares four young children: twins Strider and Azure, born in 2021, daughter Arcadia, born in 2024, and son Seldon Lycurgus, whose birth was announced in February 2025. The end of their romantic relationship also brings into question Zilis's living arrangements, specifically whether she will continue to reside in Musk's $35 million Austin, Texas, compound with their children.

Shivon Zilis's role at Neuralink involves directing the company's efforts in developing brain-computer interfaces. Neuralink, founded by Elon Musk in 2016, aims to create implantable devices that can connect the human brain to computers. The company has been working on technologies such as the "Link," a brain implant designed to help individuals with paralysis control external devices. Zilis has been a key figure in the company's operations and public communications. Elon Musk, a prominent entrepreneur, is also the founder of SpaceX and the CEO of Tesla, and owner of X (formerly Twitter). His ventures span multiple industries, including aerospace, automotive, and artificial intelligence. The nature of their relationship and its conclusion raises questions about the intersection of personal lives and professional responsibilities for high-profile individuals in the technology sector. The specific details of their living situation and any potential changes remain unconfirmed.
