Ebola cases in DRC rise to 676 as Kenya protests erupt over US plans

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) reported 676 confirmed cases of Ebola as of Thursday, June 11, with 136 deaths and 119 suspected cases. Uganda has recorded 19 confirmed cases and two deaths from the same outbreak. This outbreak, attributed to the Bundibugyo strain of Ebolavirus, is now the third largest on record. Health experts express concern that the virus may have been spreading undetected for months prior to the official declaration of the outbreak on May 15, suggesting the total case count could significantly increase. The ongoing response efforts are still attempting to fully trace the virus's spread.
