ARTEF Launches Main Character Initiative for Unproduced Screenplays

ARTEF officially launched its pan-European initiative, Main Character, earlier this month at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. This program is designed to discover and support unproduced feature fiction screenplays. Several prominent organizations have already joined as partners, signaling strong industry backing for the initiative.

Among the initial organizations attached to the Main Character initiative are European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE), Storyboard Collective, WIFT Sweden, and the European Women’s Audiovisual Network. These organizations represent a significant network within the European film and television landscape, aiming to foster new talent and projects. Their involvement suggests a commitment to identifying and nurturing promising screenplays that might otherwise remain undeveloped.

The Main Character initiative's objective is to provide a platform for screenwriters to bring their unproduced works to the forefront. By connecting these screenplays with potential industry support, ARTEF aims to bridge the gap between script development and production.
