American Airlines Vacations has launched a new promotion called MaximizeMiles, offering AAdvantage members the opportunity to earn significantly more miles and Loyalty Points on vacation packages. This promotion aims to assist members in accumulating the necessary Loyalty Points to achieve their desired elite status tiers within the American Airlines program. Under the standard earning structure, AAdvantage members without elite status earn 1 mile and 1 Loyalty Point per dollar spent on vacation packages. AAdvantage members with elite status earn 5 miles and Loyalty Points per dollar spent. However, the MaximizeMiles promotion introduces tiered earning rates that are substantially higher for bookings made between July 1 and September 30, 2026, with travel occurring between July 3, 2026, and July 31, 2027.

The promotional earning rates are structured as follows: AAdvantage members will earn 5 miles and Loyalty Points per dollar spent. Gold elite members will earn 7 miles and Loyalty Points per dollar. Platinum elite members will earn 8 miles and Loyalty Points per dollar. Platinum Pro elite members will earn 9 miles and Loyalty Points per dollar. The highest earning rate is reserved for Executive Platinum members, who will receive 11 miles and Loyalty Points per dollar spent. These elevated rates for vacation packages mirror the standard earning rates for American Airlines flights at corresponding elite status levels, meaning the mileage and Loyalty Point accrual on the flight portion of the package remains consistent with typical flight bookings.

The key benefit of the MaximizeMiles promotion lies in its application to the entire vacation package, not just the flight component. This means that the enhanced earning rates will also apply to the hotel stays and rental cars booked as part of the package. This offers a substantial opportunity for members to accelerate their Loyalty Point accumulation, which is crucial for qualifying for elite status. The number of miles and Loyalty Points earned on a package booking is determined by the AAdvantage member with the highest elite status included in the booking. American Airlines Vacations calculates the total miles and Loyalty Points by multiplying the highest status tier's multiplier by the total package value, excluding taxes, fees, and any mileage redemptions. This amount is then divided by the number of passengers on the booking, ensuring each traveler receives their proportional share of the earned miles and Loyalty Points.
