Delta Air Lines Launches First Long-Haul Service from Austin to Paris, Bolstering Texas Focus City Strategy

Delta Air Lines is significantly expanding its presence at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) by launching its inaugural long-haul international service from the Texas capital to Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). This new route, set to commence on March 27, 2027, represents a major strategic investment by Delta in Austin, which it has cultivated as a key "focus city" outside of its traditional airline hubs. The service will operate daily flights throughout the summer flying season, with operations expected to conclude in the autumn, aligning with seasonal travel demand.

This initiative underscores Delta's growing commitment to Austin. Over the past three years, the airline has dramatically increased its flight offerings from AUS. Data from aviation analytics firm Cirium reveals that Delta's total departures from Austin have surged by an impressive 85% in the current year compared to three years prior. To further solidify its operational capacity and support this expansion, Delta plans to add 15 new gates at AUS as part of a significant airport development project. This expansion is indicative of Delta's long-term vision for Austin as a crucial node in its network.

The Austin to Paris route will be serviced by Delta's modern Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. This wide-body jet is configured to offer a premium travel experience, featuring 29 Delta One suites for business class passengers, 28 Delta Premium Select recliners for those opting for premium economy, 56 extra legroom Comfort+ seats, and 168 seats in the main economy cabin. The introduction of this service will provide Austin with its fourth direct European destination, significantly enhancing international connectivity for both business and leisure travelers from the burgeoning Texas capital.

Delta's Chief Commercial Officer, Joe Esposito, heralded the new route as a "defining milestone" for the carrier's strategic growth in Austin.
