Vivian Campbell, the guitarist for the rock band Def Leppard, has announced that his cancer has returned. Campbell, who was first diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2013, revealed the recurrence of the disease in a statement on March 21, 2024. Despite this significant health challenge, Campbell expressed his determination to continue his musical endeavors and assured fans that the diagnosis will not impede his work with Def Leppard or his side project, Last in Line. He stated that he is "ready to fight this again with everything I’ve got."

Campbell's initial diagnosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma occurred in 2013, leading him to undergo treatment that included chemotherapy. He had previously announced that he was in remission in 2014. The news of the cancer's return comes as Def Leppard is actively touring. The band is currently on their "The Stadium Tour" with Mötley Crüe, which began in June 2022 and is scheduled to continue through September 2023, with additional dates planned for 2024. Campbell has been a member of Def Leppard since 1992, joining the band after the departure of original guitarist Pete Willis. He also co-founded the band Dio with Ronnie James Dio and later joined the supergroup Last in Line, which features former Dio members. His career in music spans several decades, beginning with the band Sweet Savage in the early 1980s before joining Dio in 1982.
