DC Studios Releases Trailer for Body Horror Film 'Clayface'

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures released the official debut trailer for their upcoming body horror thriller, 'Clayface,' on an unspecified date prior to San Diego Comic-Con. This film represents a significant shift into the body horror genre for James Gunn and Peter Safran's revitalized DC Universe. The movie is directed by James Watkins, with a screenplay co-written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini.

The narrative centers on Matt Hagen, portrayed by Tom Rhys Harries, a prominent Hollywood actor who suffers severe disfigurement after an encounter with a crime boss. Hagen seeks an experimental scientific treatment to regain his appearance, but the procedure results in a profound alteration of his physical form and mental state, leading him down a path of revenge. The film is produced in collaboration with Matt Reeves and 6th & Idaho Productions.

Additional cast members include Naomi Ackie as Dr. Caitlin Bates, David Dencik, Max Minghella, and Eddie Marsan. The project is described as a lean, unsettling film that prioritizes psychological horror and a grounded exploration of themes such as loss, ambition, and the corruption of identity, rather than conventional superhero elements.

'Clayface' is scheduled for release in North American theaters and IMAX on October 23, 2026. International distribution by Warner Bros. will commence on October 21, 2026.
