Clinical trial set to test two drugs for fast-growing Ebola outbreak

A clinical trial will begin next week to test two drugs, remdesivir and MBP-134, against the Bundibugyo ebolavirus, which is causing a rapid outbreak in Central Africa, World Health Organization officials announced on Wednesday. The trial, to be conducted in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, aims to determine the efficacy of each drug individually and in combination. Remdesivir is an antiviral drug developed by Gilead Sciences, while MBP-134 is a monoclonal antibody from MappBio. This initiative is crucial given the aggressive nature of the current ebolavirus outbreak.
