Chloe Wise Explores Extraterrestrial Fascination in New Exhibition

Artist Chloe Wise unveiled her new solo exhibition, 'Extrasensory,' at Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger (KBH.G) museum in Basel, Switzerland, on [Date of Exhibition Opening]. The exhibition, which runs through September 6, delves into humanity's enduring fascination with the extraterrestrial and the unexplainable. 'Extrasensory' is the Canadian artist's first exhibition in Switzerland and showcases her most ambitious cinematic project to date, a new film titled 'PsyFi*.'

The exhibition is structured around three immersive spaces designed to complement the film 'PsyFi*.' Visitors encounter a collection of UFO paraphernalia, religious artifacts, tarot decks, and alien-themed souvenirs, interspersed with prayer candles featuring imagery from the film. The film itself, 'PsyFi*,' features a notable cast of collaborators, including JT, Miles Greenberg, Moses Sumney, Lucas Bravo, Martine Syms, and Martine Gutierrez. Chloe Wise also appears in the film, portraying an alien. The project, produced by GUMMY Films, draws parallels between religious revelations and contemporary narratives of non-human intelligence, exploring themes of divine apparitions and extraterrestrial mythology.

Curated by Samuel Leuenberger, 'Extrasensory' aims to re-enchant viewers by highlighting the connections between science fiction and divinity. The exhibition includes a publication and a multi-channel video installation. A third distinct environment within the exhibition space is designed to resemble a hybrid green room and spaceship, functioning as a 'backstage place of worship.' This space suggests that belief systems can be shaped by cultural, mythical, and societal influences, blurring the lines between the sacred and the speculative.
