Kung Fu Soccer Dominates China Box Office

Shenzhen Film Studio's sports comedy "Kung Fu Soccer" maintained its dominance at the mainland China box office during the July 17–19 weekend. The film generated RMB501.1 million ($73.7 million) in its second weekend of release, according to data from Artisan Gateway. Directed by Stephen Chow, the film has now achieved a cumulative total of $214.3 million.

The animated film "All Wishes Come True" debuted in second place, earning RMB134.7 million ($19.8 million) over the weekend. This new entry from Light Chaser Animation Studios, which previously released "New Gods: Nezha Reborn," adds to the diverse offerings in the Chinese market.

Rounding out the top three was "The Rescue," a disaster film that grossed RMB58.7 million ($8.6 million) during the same weekend. Directed by Dante Lam, the film has been a consistent performer since its release, contributing to the overall box office revenue.

These figures highlight the continued strength of the Chinese film market, with both domestic productions and international releases vying for audience attention. The performance of "Kung Fu Soccer" underscores the appeal of sports comedies and established directorial talent within China.
