Chase Freedom Q3 Bonus Categories Now Live

Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Flex cardholders can now earn 5% cash back on select purchases through September 30, 2024. The third quarter's bonus categories include electric vehicle charging, gas station purchases, select live entertainment, transit, and United Way donations. To qualify for these bonus rates, cardholders must activate their categories by September 14, 2024. This promotion applies to combined spending across these categories up to a maximum of $1,500, after which a 1% cash back rate will apply.

This quarter marks the first appearance of public transit and United Way as bonus categories for the Chase Freedom program. Gas stations, EV charging, and select live entertainment have been recurring bonus categories in previous third quarters, aligning with increased travel and entertainment during the summer and early fall months. The inclusion of EV charging and gas stations reflects ongoing consumer trends towards electric vehicles and persistent fuel costs.

Activation of the bonus categories can be completed through a cardholder's Chase online account by providing their last name, the last four digits of their card, and their ZIP code. The Chase Freedom Flex card is available to new applicants, while the legacy Chase Freedom card is no longer offered to new customers.
