Cathay Pacific Reopens Renovated The Wing, First Lounge

Cathay Pacific reopened its renovated The Wing, First lounge at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) on April 22, following an 11-month renovation project. The updated lounge aims to refine the existing strengths of Cathay's first-class lounges, which include a calm, residential design, high-quality dining options, and wellness amenities, potentially making it the airline's best lounge to date. The renovation does not fundamentally alter the lounge's core experience but enhances its overall appeal and ease of use for eligible passengers. During an initial reopening period, access to The Wing, First is restricted to passengers flying Cathay Pacific first class and Cathay Diamond members. This current restriction means that Oneworld Emerald members who are not flying Cathay Pacific first class and do not hold Diamond status with Cathay Pacific are currently unable to access The Wing, First. These passengers are directed to use The Pier, First lounge, Cathay Pacific's business-class lounges such as The Bridge, and other eligible Oneworld lounges at HKG. Cathay Pacific has indicated on its website that this access restriction is temporary, although a specific date for when Oneworld Emerald members will regain access has not yet been announced by the airline. The lounge is situated near gates 1 through 4 in Terminal 1 of Hong Kong International Airport, requiring passengers departing from gates further away to allocate sufficient travel time within the terminal. The dining experience within The Wing, First has been structured into three distinct options. Passengers can choose to order from an a la carte menu in the Atrium, a space characterized by its casual atmosphere and abundant natural light. For a more formal dining experience, a refined, multicourse meal is available in the dedicated Dining Room. Additionally, self-service areas, including a Pantry, offer a selection of snacks and hot dishes for passengers seeking quicker options. This multifaceted approach to dining aims to cater to a range of preferences and time constraints, further enhancing the lounge's premium offering.
