Can-Am Unveils Extreme SxS Concepts: Defender Prerunner and Maverick R XRay Signal Future Design

BRP's Can-Am brand has unveiled two highly specialized, non-production side-by-side (SxS) vehicle concepts: the Defender Prerunner and the Maverick R XRay. These models are not slated for immediate release to the consumer market but serve as ambitious design studies, pushing the envelope of extreme off-road capability and signaling potential future stylistic and engineering directions for Can-Am's renowned SxS lineup. The Defender Prerunner is conceived as the ultimate support vehicle for grueling desert racing, embodying a "go anywhere" philosophy. Its most striking feature is a formidable six-wheeled, 6x6 configuration, a significant departure from conventional SxS designs. This heavy-duty platform is equipped with massive 35-inch off-road tires mounted on beadlock wheels, ensuring superior traction and stability across the most challenging desert terrains. The exterior is meticulously engineered for maximum utility and recovery operations, boasting integrated front and rear winches for self-extraction or assisting others, a robust front skid plate to protect vital components, and specialized platforms designed to carry essential tools and equipment.
