Breitling Honors Miles Davis With Limited Edition Navitimer

Breitling has unveiled the Navitimer B09 Chronograph 41 Tribute to Miles Davis, a limited-edition timepiece commemorating the 100th anniversary of the iconic jazz musician's birth. This new watch draws direct inspiration from the mid-1960s Navitimer ref. 806 Mk5, a model famously worn by Miles Davis, which elevated the pilot's tool into a symbol of mid-century "cool." The limited-edition release meticulously recreates the aesthetic of its vintage predecessor while incorporating contemporary watchmaking craftsmanship. The watch features a 41mm stainless steel case housing a monochrome black-and-white reverse-panda dial. Era-correct design elements include "Twin Jet" badging and old radium Super-LumiNova luminous material. A bidirectional slide-rule bezel, a hallmark of the Navitimer line, is also present. The timepiece is limited to a production run of 500 units. Buyers have the choice between a hand-colored gradient brown calfskin leather strap or the newly revived Air Racer stainless steel bracelet, which is inspired by rally watch designs. Powering the watch is the Breitling Manufacture Caliber B09, a hand-wound movement that is COSC-certified. This movement incorporates a column-wheel chronograph mechanism with a vertical clutch and offers a power reserve of 70 hours. The manual-wind architecture of the caliber is a deliberate choice to pay homage to the pre-automatic chronograph era, aligning with the period when Davis would have originally selected his watch. The movement is visible through an open sapphire crystal caseback, which is engraved with "One of 500" and "Miles Davis Centennial." The release of this tribute watch also coincides with the upcoming launch of the Breitling Social Club in Williamsburg, New York. Each of the 500 owners of the Miles Davis Navitimer will receive an exclusive two-year membership to this new club. For dedicated collectors, Breitling is offering an even more exclusive "Lifetime Club Member Set." This ultra-exclusive set is limited to just 50 numbered editions. The "Lifetime Club Member Set" is presented in a custom presentation case designed to resemble a vintage trumpet case. This special case includes a blue record and a miniature red trumpet, adding a unique thematic element. The three-watch set within this presentation case includes the stainless steel edition of the Navitimer B09 Tribute to Miles Davis, alongside two other undisclosed timepieces, further enhancing its appeal to serious collectors.
