Bouchier Stars as England Records Historic Run Chase vs. Ireland

Maia Bouchier scored a career-best 104 runs, leading England to a record-breaking six-wicket victory over Ireland in the first of three One Day Internationals (ODIs) at Grace Road. The England women's cricket team successfully chased down a target of 282, marking the highest successful run chase in their ODI history. This remarkable performance sets a strong tone for the remainder of the series.

Ireland, batting first, posted a competitive total of 281 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs. Opener Gaby Lewis was the standout performer for Ireland, scoring a fluent 100 runs off 128 deliveries, her second ODI century. She was well supported by captain Laura Delany, who contributed 42 runs, and Orla Prendergast, who added 30. The Irish innings saw steady contributions from several players, but they were ultimately unable to set a defendable total against a determined English bowling attack and a record-chasing batting lineup.

In response, England's chase was anchored by Maia Bouchier's explosive 104, which came off just 100 balls and included 11 boundaries. This was Bouchier's maiden ODI century and her highest score in the format.
