Bitmine, Sharplink and Joe Lubin back Ethereum R&D nonprofit

Ethereum Foundation announced the establishment of Ethlabs, a new nonprofit research and development organization, on May 15, 2024. Ethlabs aims to ensure the Ethereum network is prepared to handle increased institutional demand driven by stablecoins, tokenization, and artificial intelligence applications. The initiative is backed by significant contributions from Bitmine and Sharplink, with Joe Lubin, founder of ConsenSys, also providing support. Sharplink stated that Ethlabs' primary mission is to scale the Ethereum network to meet the anticipated surge in usage from financial institutions. This development signifies a concerted effort to enhance Ethereum's infrastructure and capabilities to support a broader range of enterprise-level use cases.
