Birkenstock Adds Shearling to Amsterdam Wrapped and Santa Clarita

Birkenstock has introduced winter-ready shearling-lined versions of its popular Amsterdam Wrapped and Santa Clarita closed-toe shoe models. These new iterations are designed to provide enhanced warmth and comfort during colder months, featuring plush lambskin shearling uppers. The Amsterdam Wrapped, known for its distinctive single continuous upper that wraps around the heel for a secure fit without additional straps, now incorporates this luxurious shearling material. This design choice maintains the shoe's clean profile while adding significant warmth and textural appeal. The Santa Clarita, presented in a softer, more feminine Mary Jane silhouette, also benefits from the insulating properties of lambskin shearling. This model features a rounded toe and a slender strap across the instep, secured by a classic D-buckle closure, which not only adds to the aesthetic but also ensures a snug and secure fit. The shearling in the Santa Clarita is noted for its natural insulation capabilities and moisture-wicking properties, contributing to overall foot comfort. Both the Amsterdam Wrapped and the Santa Clarita are built upon Birkenstock's signature anatomically shaped cork footbed. This foundational element, crafted from a blend of natural cork and rubber—renewable materials known for their insulating and shock-absorbing qualities—is a hallmark of the brand's comfort philosophy. The footbed itself is manufactured in Germany and is topped with a suede leather insole. Notably, the insole on the Santa Clarita is removable, offering an additional layer of customization for the wearer. The outsole for both styles is constructed from EVA, a lightweight and cushioning material designed to provide comfort and stability on varied terrain. The Amsterdam Wrapped Shearling Upper is available in Anthracite, Gray Taupe, and Sandcastle colorways, with an MSRP of ¥31,900 JPY (approximately $200 USD). The BIRKENSTOCK Santa Clarita Shearling Upper is offered in Gray Taupe and Sandcastle, with an MSRP of ¥33,000 JPY (approximately $210 USD). Both models are available in regular and narrow widths, with the Amsterdam Wrapped also offered in a broader unisex size range.
