BHP’s Incoming CEO Craig Tweaks Leadership Team Before Start

BHP Group's incoming Chief Executive Officer, Brandon Craig, announced leadership team adjustments on June 24, 2024, ahead of his official start date of July 1. These changes include the appointment of two new group presidents and a new chief development officer. Edgar Basto will become Group President, Minerals Americas, succeeding Ragnar Sundelius. Johan van der Merwe will take on the role of Group President, Minerals Australia, replacing Edgar Basto. The company also named Caroline Haig as Chief Development Officer, a newly created position. These appointments are effective September 1, 2024. Craig, who was appointed CEO in March 2024, is set to succeed Mike Henry. The leadership reshuffling aims to align the executive team with BHP's strategic priorities as Craig prepares to lead the global resources company.
