Beats 360 Headphones Feature Swappable Cushions, Enhanced ANC

Apple has introduced the Beats 360, its latest flagship over-ear headphones, marking the first time the brand offers interchangeable ear and headband cushions. This new model emphasizes personalization and acoustic performance, featuring a redesigned driver system and an advanced active noise cancellation (ANC) technology. The headphones are built with a ground-up acoustic platform, promising enhanced sound quality and the most robust noise cancellation Apple has yet shipped for a Beats product. The interchangeable cushion system allows users to select between performance knit and UltraPlush builds, enabling a customized fit and feel. The sound reproduction is driven by bespoke drivers within each ear cup, each incorporating a three-layer diaphragm paired with dual neodymium magnets. Beats states this configuration is engineered to deliver deep bass frequencies with precise control across the entire audio spectrum while minimizing distortion. The Adaptive EQ feature dynamically tunes the audio output in real-time, adjusting to the specific fit of the headphones on the wearer's head. For immersive audio experiences, the Beats 360 includes a gyroscope and accelerometer located in the left ear cup. These sensors facilitate head tracking, which is crucial for personalized spatial audio and Dolby Atmos playback across various content types, including music, films, and podcasts. The active noise cancellation system has been significantly upgraded, with Beats claiming its adaptive ANC provides up to 1.75 times the total noise cancellation capability of the previous Beats Studio Pro model. A Transparency mode is also available, allowing users to hear their surroundings when necessary. The headphones are equipped with a total of nine digital MEMS microphones distributed across the frame. Eight of these microphones are dedicated to noise cancellation functions, while three are used for voice pickup during calls. Two microphones perform a dual role, contributing to both ANC and voice clarity. For call quality, a beam-forming voice microphone works in conjunction with feed-forward microphones to isolate speech, with the system intelligently incorporating additional microphone feeds when they offer a cleaner signal. The Beats 360 also boasts an IPX4 rating, signifying its resistance to sweat and water, making it suitable for workouts and various environmental conditions. Battery life extends up to 32 hours on a single charge. Furthermore, the product incorporates the highest percentage of recycled plastic found in any Beats product to date, underscoring Apple's commitment to sustainability.
