Australian Man Charged With Murder in Thailand

Simon Peter Carman was charged with murder on May 22, 2024, following the discovery of the body of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla. The victim's remains were found concealed within a suitcase in the Bang Lamung district of Chonburi province, Thailand. Thai police apprehended Carman, an Australian national, in the same province after an investigation was launched into Donhomla's disappearance.

Initial reports from Thai authorities indicate that Donhomla was last seen on May 19, 2024. The circumstances surrounding her death are still under investigation, but police have stated that evidence collected at the scene and during the apprehension of Carman supports the murder charge. The investigation is being conducted by the Chonburi Provincial Police.

Carman is currently in custody in Thailand and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Thai police have not yet released further details regarding the cause of death or the potential motive behind the alleged crime. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed they are providing consular assistance to Carman.
