Atlantic Avenue Leads April HECM Broker Endorsements

Atlantic Avenue Mortgage topped the rankings for Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) broker endorsements in April, originating 110 federally insured reverse mortgages. This figure represents a 34% increase compared to the company's 12-month rolling average of 82 endorsements. Atlantic Avenue's rolling total for the past year reached 978, an increase from 938 for the year ending in March. The data was released this week by Reverse Market Insight (RMI) and published by HECMWorld.com.

LoanDepot maintained its second position, adding 43 loans in April to bring its 12-month rolling total to 456. Caliver Beach Mortgage followed with 393 endorsements, and C2 Financial Corp. had 178. West Capital Lending advanced to fifth place, adding 19 loans in April for a rolling 12-month total of 168. Other top originators for the past year include Carrington Mortgage Services (139), Senior Lending Corp. (138), Barrett Financial Group (134), Integrity 1st Mortgage (122), and NEXA Lending (118).

Nationwide, HECM origination activity among the top 100 lenders saw a 6% increase from May 2026, according to direct endorsement data for June released by RMI. However, the year-to-date volume was down 9.8%. The top five direct lenders in June were Finance of America (481), Longbridge Financial (407), Mutual of Omaha Mortgage (398), Fairway Home Mortgage (112), and South River Mortgage (74).

Overall HECM volume has been declining for several years. Federal Housing Administration (FHA) data, as republished by the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association, shows HECM endorsements dropped from a fiscal year 2009 peak of 114,692 to 28,172 in FY 2025, marking the lowest total in 22 years. This trend has coincided with increased demand for proprietary reverse mortgages.
