USPS Forever Stamp Price Set to Increase to 82 Cents

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has filed a notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) to increase the price of a Forever Stamp to 82 cents, effective July 12. This proposed price hike represents a 4.8% increase from the current 78-cent price.
The USPS attributes the planned price adjustment to a "severe financial crisis" and "continued rising operational costs." The agency stated its intention to "use all available tools, including available regulatory pricing authority, to ensure we can continue to fulfill our universal service obligation and serve the American public."
A Forever Stamp is designed to always cover the cost of mailing a standard letter, regardless of future price changes. Customers can still purchase Forever Stamps at the current 78-cent price until the proposed increase takes effect. The PRC must approve the price change for it to be implemented as planned.
As of the time of reporting, neither the USPS nor the PRC had officially posted confirmation of the price increase's approval. The USPS aims to maintain its universal service obligation despite financial challenges.
