‘Anger burns off every bit of it’: the furious guerrilla-art response to the Epstein files

A collective of over 80 writers has launched a guerrilla art and theatre event in response to the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Conceived on a WhatsApp group for playwrights shortly after the files became public, the initiative aimed to amplify the discourse around the abuse of girls and women by Epstein and to counter perceived distractions like the war with Iran. British playwright Rebecca Lenkiewicz initiated the prompt, which garnered widespread participation from writers expressing anger and concern. The resulting event, which commenced this week, is led by directors Lucy Morrison, Hannah Hauer-King, Madeleine Kludge, and Tessa Walker. It is staged across 15 diverse spaces, including cupboards and open areas, on the upper floor of an office building in London currently occupied by Theatre Deli, a company known for utilizing empty locations. The production is described as a fusion of art, theatre, and activism, aiming to convey the profound horror and anger associated with the abuse detailed in the files.
