Angelina Jolie Free to Leave LA After Twins Turn 18

Actress Angelina Jolie is now legally free to leave Los Angeles following the 18th birthday of her twins, Vivienne and Knox, on July 12. This milestone officially concludes the custody agreement with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, a situation Jolie previously stated was the primary reason for her continued residence in the city. Jolie expressed her desire to spend more time abroad, particularly in Cambodia, where she has owned a home for years and her eldest son, Maddox, is from. She cited a need for privacy, peace, and safety for her large family, contrasting the "humanity" she found globally with her upbringing in Los Angeles.

Jolie, 51, had previously told The Hollywood Reporter that her ability to relocate was contingent on the twins reaching adulthood. "I grew up in this town. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as [the twins] are 18, I’ll be able to leave," she stated. Her plans include spending significant time in Cambodia and visiting family members worldwide, seeking an environment that aligns with her values.

Despite her newfound freedom to depart, a significant obstacle remains: the sale of her historic Los Angeles mansion. Jolie listed the property for $29.9 million in early May, over two months before the twins' birthday. She originally purchased the estate for $24.7 million in 2017, less than a year after filing for divorce from Pitt. The sale of this property is now a crucial step before she can fully realize her plans to relocate and live abroad.
