Harris Tweed and Vans Launch Premium Footwear Collection

Harris Tweed and Vans have extended their ongoing partnership with the release of a three-model Vans Premium collection, which integrates the Scottish textile maker’s signature handwoven wool into iconic Vans silhouettes. This new capsule collection builds upon a previously previewed Old Skool model, showcasing a blue-toned plaid upper with undertones of lilac, green, and brown, complemented by deep navy overlays. The collection applies Harris Tweed’s characteristically coarse and dimensional texture, deliberately contrasting it with Vans’ established vulcanized construction and glossy sidewalls. Subtle greasing and distressed finishes are incorporated across the range to impart a lightly aged character rather than a pristine dress-shoe aesthetic.

The Premium Classic Slip-On 98 model places a significant emphasis on the Harris Tweed fabric, enveloping Vans’ laceless silhouette in a "Tweed Red/Blue" colorway. This iteration features a warm, earthy check pattern punctuated by cooler blue notes, with the irregular wool weave contributing to a richer, almost archival appearance of the surface. The design is further enhanced by the inclusion of jewels, pins, and studs that interrupt the traditional textile with flashes of metallic shine. The Premium Loafer 53 model offers a more formal interpretation of the collaboration, adapting the Harris Tweed textile into Vans’ skate-informed penny-loafer shape. This silhouette is presented in a "Tweed Brown" palette, emphasizing a muted, autumnal finish. The design combines fuzzy woven wool with smoother leather elements, set against a dark vulcanized sole, creating a fusion of traditional tailoring and subcultural styling. The Loafer 53 is adorned with studs on the tongue and features removable metal charms, including safety-pin and jewel-like accents, echoing the rebellious ornamentation found in other pieces of the collection. A subtle greasing effect is applied to add a gently weathered appearance.
