Amnesty Accuses Russia of Trafficking Foreigners for Ukraine War

The report, titled "'They Took My Passport and Forced Me to Fight': Russia's Trafficking of Foreign Nationals for the War in Ukraine," outlines a pattern of deception and exploitation. Victims reported being subjected to threats and intimidation, with their freedom of movement severely restricted. Some were allegedly told they would face legal repercussions or harm if they refused to join the military. Amnesty International's findings are based on interviews with over 30 individuals who were allegedly trafficked and forced to fight, as well as analysis of official documents and social media.

According to Amnesty International, the Russian authorities appear to be complicit in this trafficking scheme, either through direct involvement or by failing to prevent it. The organization calls for an immediate end to these practices and for accountability for those responsible.
