Adidas Originals and VegNonVeg Release Jutti-Inspired Samba Mules

Adidas Originals and New Delhi-based retailer VegNonVeg have collaborated to reimagine the iconic Adidas Samba silhouette as an open-back mule, drawing inspiration from the traditional Indian Jutti slip-on shoe. This partnership introduces two distinct colorways: "Black" (HP4921) and "Silver" (HQ2795), both available now. The design retains the Samba's instantly recognizable T-toe but extends it into a pointed, padded tongue, a characteristic feature of the Jutti, thereby merging the football heritage of the Samba with the elegance of Indian footwear.

The construction of these Samba mules emphasizes a fusion of both brands' identities and cultural influences. The heel has been entirely removed to create the mule form, and the upper is crafted from premium leather, featuring invisible stitching for a sleek finish. The classic Adidas Three Stripes are presented in a contrasting cream color, providing legibility against the darker leather uppers. Subtle yet significant Indian design elements are integrated throughout the shoe. Tonal botanical embroidery, symbolizing growth, community, and roots, is incorporated into the upper. Additionally, a gold Trefoil emblem is rendered in the shape of a flower, and gold foil branding for "SAMBA" and "VegNonVeg" adds a premium touch. A vibrant red lining, a common feature in traditional Juttis, offers a hidden pop of color.

The collaboration extends to the insoles, which are intentionally mismatched: one is green and the other is red, representing the "Veg" and "NonVeg" components of the retailer's name. Both insoles feature Jutti-style ornamentation with the brand's leaf-tree motif and are printed with the messages "From VegNonVeg with Love" and "To India and Beyond." The outsole is constructed from gum rubber, a classic element often found on Samba models. This reworking of the Samba sits atop a legacy that began decades ago when the model was initially designed as a football boot for training on frozen and icy pitches. It has since evolved from its athletic origins to become one of Adidas' most enduring lifestyle staples.

The "Black" colorway features a Black/Cream/Gum palette, while the "Silver" variant presents a Metal Grey/Silver-Core Black-Off White combination. While the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) has not been disclosed, the release aims to bridge cultural aesthetics and athletic heritage.
