AcuRite admits new app falls short, delays old app’s May shutdown to fix problems

AcuRite has postponed the mandatory transition of its smart weather device users from the My AcuRite app to the AcuRite NOW app. The original shutdown date for My AcuRite was May 30, but this has been delayed due to significant user concerns. Jeff Bovee, AcuRite's VP of product development, acknowledged these issues in a statement to Ars Technica, noting that the transition "has raised serious questions and concerns among many long-time users." Many users expressed dissatisfaction with being forced to adopt new software, especially when the existing My AcuRite app was perceived as functional, if not superior. AcuRite NOW, which launched in June 2025 for iOS and Android, was found to be missing several key features present in My AcuRite. These missing functionalities include the ability to rename multiple temperature sensors, report temperatures using non-integer values, and access an online dashboard. Additionally, users reported difficulties uploading data to weather websites and criticized the AcuRite NOW app's layout for inefficient use of space.
