LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Breaks Speed Record

LEGO Technic unveiled its latest Ultimate Car Concept Series creation, the Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear, last month. This project involved translating the Swedish brand's powerful megacar into both a 1:8 scale model and a life-size version that has officially broken records as the fastest LEGO build to date. Following its debut at Koenigsegg's headquarters in Ängelholm, Sweden, both builds were prominently displayed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

During the festival's opening day, car journalist Callum Mullins of Callum's Cars examined the life-size Sadair's Spear build, which was positioned alongside the original megacar. The LEGO Technic version, constructed from over 327,000 LEGO Technic elements, featured open doors allowing attendees to inspect its reimagined components. A notable design element highlighted by Mullins was the car's outer shell, composed of shield-shaped pieces that reference Koenigsegg's logo and contribute to a unique scale-like texture.

The development of the car's exterior skin was a significant undertaking, requiring approximately 9,400 hours. This detailed construction, with individual panels made of 53 LEGO Technic elements, proved to be a popular attraction, drawing crowds of fans eager to examine the craftsmanship. The build also incorporated the signature "ghost mode" feature characteristic of Koenigsegg vehicles, with Mullins taking a turn in the driver's seat to initiate it.
