2027 Rivian R2

2027 Rivian R2

Rivian launched the R2 electric SUV on March 7, 2024, positioning it as a more accessible option within its lineup. The R2 is priced starting at $45,000, a significant reduction compared to the R1S, and is expected to begin deliveries in the first half of 2026. This new model features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration as standard, with an option for a tri-motor setup that Rivian claims will achieve a 0-60 mph acceleration in under 3 seconds. The R2 boasts an estimated range of over 300 miles on a single charge, utilizing Rivian's next-generation battery technology. Inside, the R2 incorporates a minimalist design with a large central touchscreen and a unique feature: a reconfigurable second-row seat that folds flat, expanding cargo space considerably. Rivian also highlighted the vehicle's sustainable materials and a panoramic glass roof. The company stated that the R2 will be compatible with Tesla's Supercharger network via an adapter, offering broader charging access for owners. Rivian aims for the R2 to appeal to a wider demographic, competing directly with established electric SUVs from brands like Tesla and Ford.
