2027 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Gets a Price Cut with Revived FWD

The 2027 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport will have a starting price of $25,505, a reduction of $1,500 from the previous year's base model. This price adjustment coincides with the reintroduction of a front-wheel-drive (FWD) option for the least expensive trim level. The base ES trim will now feature FWD, while all-wheel-drive (AWD) will remain standard on higher trims like the SE and GT. This strategic pricing move aims to make the Outlander Sport more competitive in the subcompact SUV segment, which has seen increased competition and evolving consumer preferences. Mitsubishi has also updated the vehicle's infotainment system, offering a standard 8-inch touchscreen across all trims, an upgrade from the previous 7-inch display. Safety features have also been enhanced, with the base ES model now including standard forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning. The powertrain remains largely the same, with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 148 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The AWD system available on higher trims is Mitsubishi's renowned Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC), which offers enhanced traction and handling in various driving conditions. The 2027 model year also sees minor exterior styling tweaks, including a revised front grille and updated wheel designs for certain trims. Mitsubishi hopes these changes will boost sales for the Outlander Sport, which has been a consistent, albeit lower-volume, seller for the brand.
