Hyundai has introduced a mid-cycle refresh for its Ioniq 5 electric vehicle, with the 2027 model year bringing notable updates to styling, battery technology, and performance. The updated Ioniq 5 aims to maintain its competitive edge in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle market. The exterior design has been subtly revised, featuring a more refined front fascia with a redesigned bumper and grille. The rear bumper also sees updates, contributing to a sleeker overall appearance. Inside, the cabin benefits from material upgrades and minor ergonomic adjustments to enhance driver and passenger comfort. A significant enhancement for the 2027 Ioniq 5 is the introduction of an updated battery pack. While specific capacity figures are not yet detailed, Hyundai states this new battery offers improved energy density and faster charging capabilities. This advancement is expected to provide a longer driving range and reduce charging times, addressing key consumer considerations for EVs. Performance has also seen an uplift. The electric motors have been retuned to deliver increased power output. For the rear-wheel-drive Long Range variant, the power has been boosted to 225 horsepower, a significant increase from the previous 221 horsepower. The 2027 Ioniq 5 will continue to offer two battery options: a 58 kWh standard range battery and a 77.4 kWh long-range battery. The long-range battery is now equipped with an 84 kWh capacity, offering a projected EPA-estimated range of 303 miles for the rear-wheel-drive model, an increase from the previous 303 miles. The all-wheel-drive long-range model is projected to achieve 266 miles of range, up from 260 miles. Charging speeds are also improved, with the long-range battery capable of charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger, a slight improvement over the previous generation. The Ioniq 5's 800-volt E-GMP platform remains, facilitating these rapid charging capabilities. New for 2027 is the inclusion of a dedicated Wi-Fi hotspot, enhancing connectivity for occupants. The vehicle also receives an updated infotainment system with a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen display, featuring improved user interface and faster processing. The SE Long Range RWD begins at $45,950, and the SEL Long Range RWD is priced at $48,950. The top-tier Limited trim, available in both RWD and AWD configurations, starts at $53,450 for the RWD and $57,450 for the AWD. These prices represent a slight increase compared to the outgoing model year, reflecting the added technology and performance enhancements.
