2026 Mercedes-AMG SL63 S E Performance Hybrid Powertrain Detailed

The 2026 Mercedes-AMG SL63 S E Performance will feature a potent plug-in hybrid powertrain, combining a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine with an electric motor and a 6.1 kWh battery pack. This setup is engineered to produce a combined output of 805 horsepower and 752 lb-ft of torque, significantly boosting performance over previous models. The V8 engine alone contributes 603 horsepower, while the electric motor adds an additional 201 horsepower.

The electric motor is integrated into the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission, and the battery pack is positioned above the rear axle. Despite its performance focus, the hybrid system offers a limited all-electric range of approximately 6.2 miles (10 km) on the WLTP cycle. This electric capability is primarily intended for short bursts of power or low-speed maneuvering, rather than extended electric-only driving.

This new E Performance variant aims to deliver a blend of raw power and electrified efficiency. The powertrain's integration is designed to provide instant torque from the electric motor, enhancing acceleration and responsiveness. The SL63 S E Performance is expected to be the most powerful SL model to date, pushing the boundaries of what a grand tourer can achieve in terms of performance metrics. Pricing and specific availability dates are yet to be announced by Mercedes-AMG.
